I have never heard of this man before, but found his name surfing boxrec one day. The sound of his name was what got my attention. His career stretched from 1922-1937. He was undefeated in his first 49 pro fights before losing to an unknown fighter. Apparently, he was the German amateur champion at middleweight in 1921. He would later fight at lightheavyweight and would lose to Max Schmeling. He retired with an overall career record of 106-21-19-54. Anyone know anything about him?
he was avery scientific boxer out of cologne, germany. very clever, great jab. it was that jab that shut schmeling eye before max hit paydirt with his right hand. schmeling was just too big for him. he and schmeling used to train out of the same gym in colonge. and if remember correctly, domgorgen was considered the better prosepect. his manager dumped schmeling for domgorgen i think. that is why schmeling wanted the fight bad. he later became a really respected trainer.
Hein Domgorgen became a respected trainer? Just out of curiosity, do you know any names of fighters that he trained?
