Hein Ten Hoff KO 2 Wilson Kohlebrecher 1950

I remember it was in an old Ring magazine of the 50's,apparently[from what I recall], Hoff didnt take it too seriously, but Rocky was going for broke.Hoff's manager berated him for not responding in kind .As I recollect Hoff jabbed Marciano off rather easily, and dodged his swings ,Marciano was throwing big shots ,I beleive , I think the quote was something like "Wiilie I will hit him tommorow if you want. "[ they were scheduled to spar over two days], Marciano's team did not turn up the next day.
Marciano was still fairly raw then, I expect.

Pretty good fighter. Solid inside the Top10 German hws. Not Top5 though.

 

Olle lost in America on a split to Maxim, havent read or seen it but that's not a bad effort.
Interesting to hear about Hein and Marciano, just wondering when as Ten Hoff's first American fight was in the 1950's, if so Rocky wasn't green?

 

Max, Walter, maybe Karl...who else tops him for sure?

perhaps Axel Schulz, he should have won the hw championship. Twice. Quite pathetic actually.

 

I'd have Heinz Neuhaus over Hein Ten Hoff. KO'd Hoff in one round, beat Karel Sys and Rex Layne. Decent fighter.

I've been able to view the films of Hein available now and its easy to see he had good teaching and his long amat. background. The Ingo fight doesn't automatically put him in a bum category, Ingo did the same one round job on Machen. Ingo had one of the best right hands in heavy history, possibly matching any other. All the rounds of his bout with Jersey Joe apparently aren't available but those I watched didn't show Walcott holding anything back and Hein boxing competively. Joe just had another skill level.

 

Still he was highly favourited and the german papers asked what hospital they were going to send Ingo`s flowers to :rofl
