The speed would no longer have been there if not for the roids. Roids increase all aspects of athletic performance.

Just take a look at Boxrec. Both times Toney was busted, his career took a dive. I don't know how else to say this- fighters take steroids because they increase athletic performance. There is no explaining that away. They take them because they need them.

Toney is an undisputed ATG. But not at heavy. He never was any good at heavy without roids.

In any event, we kind of lost track of the point of the thread, which is Helenius in 6-7.

    Bump.

Peter was always overrated, and Hleenius is the real deal. Two former titleists down.

Helenius isnt the real deal at all, imo. And this fight doesnt prove otherwise for me.

You say Peter was always overrated, meaning even at his best, add to that all the beatings hes taken now, add hes actually coming off a brutal ko, add to that he was close to his career high, and I dont see how this fight has any bearing at all on what Helenius has other then power.

Nice prospect, hope to see more of him, and he won a fight he should win if he is going to become the real deal, but I think its too early to say that yet, but its just imo.

Peter was overrated by virtue of the fact that some predicted him to be the next Tyson.

This is Helelius' 15 fight, and he is already two former titleists down. As delineated on another thread, his heavyweight record is already comparable to that of David Haye.

Ah, well Tyson comparisons are indeed, ******ed. But I think that was a somewhat deluded minority on that detail  Every fighter is overrated by some... including this Helenius, who I just saw in another thread is being picked by someone to knockout wlad if they fight.

But indeed, very nice record for the prospect (now hes verging on actual contender though I suppose) eather way, hes coming along nicely. Im just not going to be calling him the 'real deal' any time soon, his fighting doesnt impress me in all honesty.

But, regardless, I am interested in how he develops and hopefully he fights again soon, a guy like him will thrive and grow off of keeping active, and hopefully his next fight is another ranked opponent (I heard chambers.... that might be too early? Id put him in with a mover type boxer, a fast puncher, to warm him up a bit to that style first) But lets see how he does from here on out.

Regardless of anything, it was a nice stoppage over a sturdy fighter, I figured at Peters weight that he would get UD'd, or maybe quit late, but he got the legit KO on him.... always a plus.

I need to see one or two more fights against quality opponents(not ones who were shopworn like Brewster and Peter) to determine if he's truly the real deal. Helenius is in the same position that Peter once was. Even if he beats all other known contenders out there, the only way to know if you have a chance against the Klitschkos is to get in with them. I've been following him since he stopped Brewster and am curious to how he prepares to fight the K brothers.....and how he handles a slick explosive style like Haye's

This is fair enough, and by saying that he is the real deal, I don't neccesarily mean he can beat a Klit and certainly not now. He is going to need ten more fights before he starts to get there.

All I am saying is that since Lennox left, we have been given very flawed contenders who we knew were inferior: Peter with his overrated power and complete lack of technique, Chagaev with his sick notes, Briggs with his asthma, etc. Helenius has the kind of package of skills that is going to make him a real contender and a legitimate threat.
