Robert Helenius and Kubrat Pulev are likely to fight each other in the nearest future, at least that's what EBU wants anyways. People around here no doubt have seen a good share of Helenius as he fought moderately big names at the time: Lamon Brewster, Sam Peter, Dereck G-sora, etc, but not too many are familiar with Pulev, who is a tall, well-built heavyweight with classic technique and decent power. Pulev is coming off a good win vs Alexander Dimitrenko whom he outboxed for the majority of their fight before knocking him out with A JAB (although it was obvious that Dimitrenko simply quit) while Helenius has cited injury following his controversial win over G-sora in which many believe Delboy was robbed, hense Helenius' new nickname -- Robbery Helenius. What are your thoughts? I think this one is quite interesting. Pulev is the better mover of the two, he's more mobile overall but he also seems a tad softer to me than Helenius who may not move his feet much but he's solid as a rock and packs a fight-ender in each fist. I'd expect Pulev to be scoring with his jab and one-twos with Helenius closing the gap at the end of each round with combinations and making it a close fight overall. Hard to pick a winner in this one, but if I absolutely had to predict the outcome I'd go with Helenius by split decision.
I hope Pulev wins because I hate that ****** Helenius but I am not sure, Pulev would have to outbox him, if he can stay up on his feet for 12 rounds he takes it, not sure how likely that is though.
Sounds unlikely--they have the same promoter. If the fight came off I'd favor Pulev to win a decision but you never know with Helenius because of that 1 punch KO power.
I've searched and searched for update irt how he's rehabbing and if the damage wasn't severe enough to end his career. The initial tear 6 wks prior to the bout should have been enough to prompt surgery, but his mgmt felt he could rest the injury and make the bout vs a non threat like Chisora. Wow, did that ever backfire. But from what I've read early on, the fact that he fought and winged that R hand cause potentially irreparable damage. Any place I could read up on his chances for FULL recovery?:think
this is a tough one, Pulev has the skills but Helenius has the height, weight and power advantage if Pulev can keep away from Helenius' power-shots, then he wins a UD
I do not think that Sauerland will sacrifies one of his two best prospects. Anyways, I would rather see Khan Kubrat against Mitchell or Stiverne in order to get an American exposure. He has done enough on European level. He needs to show Americans his skills. Another good option for Khan Kubrat is Odlanier Solis. Solis is popular enough in Germany and his promoter is German so the fight will get the needed attention. They fought as amateurs so it is interesting to see how they will do as pros.
