Leading up to the fight, Adam Kownacki must've been saying to himself the exact same thing as Deontay Wilder: "i don't care if he's bigger than me. i can just rely on my knockout power and i'm sure to beat him." But RH had other plans... (Wow! Kownacki knocks out Washington - Washington knocks out Helenius - Helenius knocks out Kownacki. See why we love boxing so much?)
Kownacki needs to get in shape or his career will stagnate. He was 242 for Szpilka in 2017. No need to be 265 now.
Al Haymon is having a bad run with his heavyweight fighters. His BIG 3 have all been laid down in a 4 month stretch. Maybe the other promoters should send him a gift basket.
Lol, definitely not a great run recently for his heavies. But he still has Hunter Jr, he's a Haymon fighter though more affiliated with DAZN and Hearn because clearly they never thought he was good enough for Showtime to promote and invest time in. Maybe they now bring Hunter Jr in house and start feeding him on the weaker PBC heavies in the hopes of building him up to a title run.
He's just a disgustingly lazy fighter. He probably shouldn't even be 242 if he was truly in shape. Make him train like a CW and he probably makes around 220 with his frame.
I wonder if Hunter will be content with the string of patsies they'll want to feed him though. He seems cut from a different cloth.
The bomb squad lost a loyal servant with Kownacki. Now it's back to the kitchen to make the cuisine for Al Haymon!
This is why I cringed when his weight was announced, 265 are you kidding me? You'd think that after watching that tub of lard Ruiz blow his rematch with Joshua they'd learn. Do these fighters actually have trainers or is that just the modern term for sycophant , someone who pats them on the back and says," you're looking great man! He should weigh no more than 245 tops with I think 235 being his target weight for sure. How much quickness and mobility to set up and avoid shots would he gain. The only quickness he has at 265 is going to McDonalds
Yeah, he doesn't seem to feat anyone, even taking tough fights back to back on short notice. I don't think he'd be overly happy just facing hand picked easy touches while he's maneuvered into a title shot. But the money from PBC would be hard to turn down, that's what might make him fall in line. But PBC aren't out of options other than Hunter. Martin's fight with Washington was an eliminator so he'll get a shot at some point, he won't win of course but you never know Joshua or Fury could get injured like Glazkov and see Martin crowned 2 time champ, lol.
Well Wallin nearly beat Fury (probably should have done given how bad the cut was) so stranger things have happened, lol.
Ruiz looked very soft against Parker at 255. For the first Joshua bout at 265 he looked rock solid, he had added muscle layers below the fat. Kownacki at 265 is just 99.9% pastry roll bodyfat. The weight on the scales sometimes doesn't tell the whole story, because of the muscle to fat ratio. Some guys are just stockier too, Kownacki has quite a slim build for a fat guy.
Kownacki seemed to think he could rely on his chin more then anything.... his guard was low and his rush in style was perfect for Helenius to counter.
