"Gracie is survived by his wife Vera; his sons Rickson, Royler, Rolker, Royce, Relson, Robin and Rorion; his daughters Rerika and Ricci, as well as numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren." He sure liked names that starts with an r :nut
This was grandpa Gracie, right? The founder? If so, he's old enough that this is not unexpected, but respect nonetheless. :good
RIP this guy is amazing to me I remember 2 years ago reading he still trains at his age which to be is incredible.
If it wasnt for Helio, we might very well not have MMA as it is today. Helio > BJJ > Royce > UFC > cross training > MMA today. RIP Grandad Gracie :good
Actually many of the Gracie's consider Carlos to be the main founder of bjj. Mitsuyo Maeda being the root of the teachings. ......my condolences
Helio was still training even at age 95. That's a mother****ing real man right there. You can see the strength and spirit of Helio reflected in the strength of his sons. From Rorion to Relson to Royce to Rickson. That is a serious crop of bad asses. One can only imagine. RIP to a legend. On a related side note, Relson is coming back to NC in March. I'm too injured up to roll competitively any more - but I am thinking about checking it out. A weekend learning from him is always a life affirming event.
