How do you know he wasn't going for the KO? A missed right hand leaves an orthodox fighter off balance & wide open to the counter left against a southpaw like Sultan. Especially one with quick hands.

I'm not sure what fight you were watching, but even his own trainer, Emanuel Steward, told him in between a round to stop holding wrestling with him and put some punches together.
13 or so right and 100s of jabs tell me he wasn't lookikng to see if he can end teh fight. His post fight interview also tells me he wasn't looking to step it up. Wlad said he didn't want to throw the right unless he was sure it would land. Meaning he wasn't willing to take any risk at all. That is the part many people had issue with. Sultant is not a dangerous puncher, yes every pro boxer has a punchers chance, but clearly in this fight Wlad could have stepped it up. Everytime he did throw them rights he landed monster shots.

Go watch the fight, there weren't many clinches at all. Why the hell do you need Manny to tell you that? Didn't you see the fight? Manny was just trying to motivate Wlad to an impressive knockout for his fanbase. I thought that it was a stupid move. Let man use his boxing skills, and dominate just like he did.
Lennox Lewis often fought tactical fights like this where he did'nt want to take any chances and risk getting hit...... ......Vlad however took it too far. One thing is to use these types of tactics against David Tua, which Lennox did...... .....and another altogether is to be scared shitless and use the overcautious approach vs Sultan. Sultan is a stocky Francois Botha type who is far from a big puncher.....a fighter like Lennox used to lay these guys out cold in the early rounds. A fighter with Vlad's size and power should be laying out guys who are not big punchers, especially one the caliber of Sultan. Sultan is a decent fighter, but he's not someone who any heavyweight worth his salt should fight as cautious as Vlad fought him. That was an embarrassing win for Vlad. Emmanuel Steward showed some embarrassment and urgency only when it was too late. Emmanuel let Vlad know before the start of the final round that Sultan should'nt be standing going into the 12th round, telling Vlad that he was'nt letting his hands go...... ....Emmanuel should have mentioned this to Vlad about mid way through the fight, but balked. .....Emmanuel is as much to blame for Vlad's lethargic performance as Vlad is. Any great heavyweight in history could have won tonights fight vs Sultan fighting with the strategy that Vlad did....but great heavyweights are supposed to do more than to let a mediocre champion like Sultan cross the finish line without at least having him show signs of having taken some punishment. That was just an awful effort put fourth by Vladimir Klitchko imo!:-( The dissapointing part is that Vlad is a much better fighter than he showed tonight! Its a mental thing with Vlad.....those knockout losses apparently still haunt him!
The only real wrestling or holding was later in the fight when Sultan was getting more & more desperate and he was running in with his head down flailing away. Still, not a lot.
No actually I don't. Please explain. Wladimir is ten times more exciting to watch fight than Holmes was.
