Oh dear lord, I know your a big Wlad fan, but you are blind if your telling me the 13 or so right hand was all that Wlad had in the fight.
Sultan is much better than Francois Botha. By a wide margin. Also, Sultan is a moderately strong puncher...he hits much better than Botha did. I sat at ringside for Sultan's fight against Javier Mora last March. Sultan had the tough chinned Mora looking like spaghetti. It was not unreasonable for Vlad to fight safe and smart against Sultan.
But at the end of the day a win is a win... Every fighter has had nights when they weren't at their explosive best... The only thing that matters is the result. Wlad got it done tonite... Another W on his record.
I don't need Manny to tell me that, he confirmed what I was saw when he told Wladimir that. Motivating or not, he had is own trainer hitting the snoozzzzzzzzarama button in the corner. It appears putting people to sleep was not in the game plan, because it didn't seem his own trainer was too content with his lackluster performance, and usually Manny too conservative in my opinion, which says a lot about Klitschkos performance tonight.
It says a lot to me. Wlad just unified the titles with a dominating performance over an undefeated Champion.
Not at all. Wlad has never had a fight on the level of Holmes/Norton, and while Holmes boxed and jabbed, he never fought like Wlad just did. That was brutally boring. Usually Wlad is better to watch than that, but would people stop trying to defend him for that performance. He won, I guess that's all he needed to do to unify, and hopefully now that he has, his defenses will be more memorable. Then again, he may also fight this way throughout his title reign, simply to keep his title. You never know, hopefully the former.
A win is a win for sure......but champions, especially the Heavyweight champion of the world should be conscious of the fact that people pay money to watch him fight. Fighters are entertainers, and Vlad certainly did'nt give us that tonight! :zzz :zzz :zzz
You should watch films of great champions like Carlos Monzon. Those guys do what they have to do to win, and they don't take senseless chances at scoring knockouts just to please fans. Vlad reminds me of Monzon in some ways.
I agree, Sultan is a decent puncher but his real strength is in his combos & handspeed. He times his counters nicely too, it just had little effect on Klitschko.
I agree with your comment about Sultan's excellent handspeed and combination punching. Vlad was winning easily by fighting a tactical fight...it would have been foolish for him to open up too much as long as Sultan could counter quickly with a variety of well placed punches. I think people should give Sultan credit for going the distance against a dominant and dangerous champion.
That isn't the way it works around here. At least for Wladimir Klitschko. If he lost by decision- he sucks (hasn't happened yet) If you lost by knock out- he sucks, and you have a glass jaw If you win by decision - he sucks If you win by knockout late- he sucks, he beat a glass jawed opponent and should have done it sooner If he wins by early knockout - Proves nothing, his opponent was awful, why did he fight this bum? If he wins- he either sucks, or his opponent does... or both. If he loses- He sucks, his oppenent is the savior of the division.
