In their first encounter, Marvin Johnson landed one of the single, hardest uppercuts I have ever seen thrown in the ring which landed right on the point of Matt Franklin`s chin snapping his head back violently. To this day I do not know how Matt`s head remained attached to his neck after that blow, if there ever was a punch thrown in the ring which looked like it may well have knocked the other fighters head clean off this is what I would have imagined it to look like.

Another uppercut that stands out in my mind is the one Yoshiaki Numata landed on Raul Rojas to win their fight. Rojas had dropped him towards the end of the 4th round with some bodyshots that had Numata in considerable distress, and he figured he would follow the same blueprint of going to the body in the 5th round.

Numata however would not go quietly and fought back furiously although trapped in a corner, and finally as he got out of the corner and into center ring with Rojas in hot pursuit, after a few seconds of furious in-fighting he uncorked a right uppercut that landed flush on Rauls chin as he was about to throw a right hand and put him down for the count.

Justin's taller than 5'6", but not by much, maybe 5'8". One fiesty SOB. Takes no stick from anyone in the gym or out.

The one Earnie Shavers landed on Jimmy Ellis in the opening seconds of the first round at Madison Square Garden. Ellis was backed against the ropes, trading, and dropped like wet laundry -- Never moved a muscle while he was counted out.

That may well have been the hardest uppercut Lewis ever landed in his professional career. Sounded like a shotgun blast, too.

Although it didn't land flush, Mercer's uppercut on Damiani's nose in round 9 looked extremely painful.

Marvin also took one of the hardest uppercuts that I've ever seen, when Michael Spinks put him to sleep with a single left uppercut as Johnson was coming in.

Letting him start the next round didn't help any either.
