Are you boxing for competition? If memory serves me correct, the weight limits in amateurs are 144 and 152. So if you're boxing in competition then staying at 144 is certainly to your advantage. Moving up to 154 might hurt some, literally. Make sure you can jab like Paul Williams before you get in that ring for real though. Tall and lanky can/should have reach advantage and power from mid-far range, but in close you won't be able to put anything together.
your new training Idea is **** don't be a skirt about weight training. Loads of top pro boxers have been secretly lifting heavy weights for decades. You need to do the 5 basic power moves spread out over 2-3 workouts a week plus a couple more lifts here Deadlifts Squats Bench Press Bent Over Barbell Rows Millitary Press when you double or triple your strength on these five lifts you wont care if you have gained weight or not cause you will be so ****ing strong and jacked looking lifting weights creates the hunger in your mind and body to eat more. you get ravenous its a natural process you start craving the foods that build muscle Weight gainers and protein powders work you must know how much you want to weigh and target it then go after it until you get it. Set a Goal and hit it
Yep. Although some people do have ridiculous metabolisms, it just boils down to finding away to get in more calories.
maybe good maybe not but what about being stiff and losing your punching speed etc. maybe train inteligently but old school says no to weights :blood but i remember when i was training in boxing club. (old school). he said no to drink water i dehydrated my muscles ,were burned.
if you do nothing but weights yeah offcourse you will be stiff, shadow box and keep boxing to stay lose and you should see results.
