so wait you tell me something about neurological conditioning like it explains why isolation training causes imbalances? and how much does strength really have to do with conditioning? did you miss the part where i recommend multiple rounds with 1 lb weights (16 oz gloves) going 80-100% throwing 150+ punches a round? or is, say 3 on the bag 3 shadow, 900 punches not enough neurological conditioning?
did you click the link? the anterior delt is targeted while the lateral delt is used as a synergyst along with the shoulder cuff, the posterior delt isnt even used. aside from working the shoulder cuff its not much better then a front raise. http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidAnterior/BBShoulderPress.html http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidAnterior/DBFrontRaise.html
Yes it does. I was assuming you would be training all muscles equally but in solation. If you were not, then you would impede your own body mechanics by messing with the muscular proportions in the movement. Alot. By your own definition, conditioning is to make you specifically fit for a sport. To be fit for boxing (I'm going to use the example of amatuer) you need the stamina to go three rounds at high intensity. However, you need punching power, which although not directly related to how strong you are, can always be improved with a proper full body strengthening routine. All major parts of the body should be strengthened for the same reason as with the individual shoulder muscles, although the arms are less important than the legs and core generally. Also, strength trainign does provide some crossover into muscular endurance. I am one of the few boxers at my gym who uses weights, and not the fittest or best runner. But when it comes to muscular endurance challenges such as pressups/situps/burpees/punchouts I win around 90% of the time No I did not miss that part, and clearly I was not commenting on hitting the bag, because for one reason it is a painfully obvious part of boxing conditioning. For a second reason, there is nothign particularly wrong about what you said there outside of personal preference. I don't have a vendetta against you, I'll only write your advice off as wrong when it is actually wrong.
Ylem, you inspired me to take another look at your youtube boxing video.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5WBSBXLtQY&feature=related[/ame] What the hell are you doing at the two minute mark? Why are you looking at the ground when you punch and why is your head always one foot away from the bag at all times? To my untrained eye it seems that your stance is absolutely terrible and would result in you getting your ass kicked against anything that can punch back. You've never sparred have you? Under the video it says you are using ankle weights and your bag weighs 120 pounds. Why would you use ankle weights and what is the relevance of telling people how much the bag weighs? I just want some knowledge from someone who likes to tell people they don't know boxing, I don't understand your training methods or your style. Am I missing something? You do know the names of muscles, did you take an anatomy class? Kudos for that.
i wasnt using ankle weights i was simply stating that i had put ankle weights in the bag to add weight in reality the bag was 40 and i probly added 40 lbs to the bag making it like 80lbs in that video. in the video after that i had wrapped the ankle weights around a 22 lb lead counter weight and that brought the weight to 103.8 but i kept hitting the led weight and ****ed up my wrists for a while. i layered filling sand filling sand filling sand and made the bag about 70 lbs because i had taken off from the bag for a while for my wrists. eventually that settled i pulled out the non sand filled stuffing and layered that with more sand, once that settled i pulled out the top stuffing and layered that with more sand. my bags 30 inches at 92.8 lbs currently so its pretty solid as well. i mention the weight of the bag because when i posted the previous video people has asked the weight of the bag. beyond that it shows decent stamina and its from a month or 2 before the other video.
That shows decent stamina? You're huffing and puffing after three minutes and your slaps are losing their steam. Answer my other questions. I want some of your superior boxing knowledge.
Just a few things... Your punches have no power, your punching technique is awful, you look at the floor constantly, you bend your back but don't drop your hips, whenever you move you lower your guard, when you duck down you look to the side and take you eyes off the bag, your punches are so badly telegraphed and your stamina is shite. That's from a guy that does kickboxing and doesn't really know much about boxing... I don't think I need to say much more. And to think you were telling me I don't know how to box.
oh the slipping? your absolutely correct i should not be looking at the ground and many people pointed this out to me. i dont ever slip like that on the bag any more. in a mirrior ill do that as an eccentric exercise for the hamstring area making sure i keep eye contact with my self the whole time. like eccentric exercises hyperplasia tighter spring better conversion of energy less movement in real slipping i dont really even do it sparring i might experiment alittle but at most ill just slip in bob down and slip back out of range as i bob up i think id be off balance if i threw anything i guess i just use it to change the rhythm if anything. but the act of doing in my opinion improves my normal slip speed.
Ylem you don't do any sparring. I'm ****ing around with you man, I don't care and I think you are a joke trying to give people advice and telling them they don't know boxing. Don't take anything I say personally, you look like you try hard.
