I am in the process of writing my definitive all-time pound-for-pound list (I have been criticizing other peoples' lists for long enough now, time to take the plunge), and there are certain guys I'd like to discuss with other posters, as making a list really does require a lot of thought and consideration.

For each fighter listed below please tell me

1 - generally what you think of him in terms of A- how you rate his ability (how good a fighter you think he was, h2h, skillset), B- how you rate his achievements (titles won, number of weight divisions fought in, length of title reigns, dominance of title reigns, accolades like p4p#1 ranking, Fighter of the Year), C- how you rate his resume(the names on the paper, and how good those guys were at the time of fighting. The general quality of his opposition, his best wins set against his worst performances)

    and

2 - Where you think he deserves to be rated approximately in a mythical all-time pound-for-pound top 100, (ie 1-10,11-20,21-30...91-100, 100+)

Remember and explain your reasons for the points you make.

I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

OK, the men in question are:

    - Jose Napoles
    - Evander Holyfield
    - Floyd Mayweather Jr
    - Alexis Arguello
    - Salvador Sanchez
    - Kid Gavilan
    - Wilfred Benitez

    Hey PAC,

When I get home I'd like to give an opinion on all these except Mayweather and Holyfield.

Even dough Kid Gavilan lost a lot of fights, Sugar Ray Robinson said he was the hardest opponent he ever faced.

Don´t do it. It´s not worth it. I had a list for every weightclass and a p4p list and never happy with any of them. Totally thinking about and changing then. Also, there are always guys you overlook or don´t know enough to put them right. Don´t do it!

I simply don't have much of an opinion to offer on their careers as they don't interest me greatly. I've got Holyfield ranked but I've never thought deeply outside of what he achieved, and I never bothered ranking Mayweather as I still consider him active.

(I know Holyfield is also active in a technical sense but its not relevant as we know)

I've got my own list at home, with references and film that I refer to so I'll be in a better position to contribute.

    Don't mind him.

He's one of the new breed of trolls that have rolled into the forum recently.

 He is indeed, I've noticed a few of his short sharp **** posts recently. I just wanted clarification on that comment though as I genuinely don't know what he meant.

Arguello....good resume, fantastic fighter.....precise, fantastic footwork, boxing brain, three-weight 'World' champion.

Gavilan....as has previously been said, one of Ray Robinsons toughest opponent. Never stopped, inventive puncher (claimed to be the creator of the Bolo Punch, though he was certainly one of the first to implement successfully if the history books are correct) very very tough fighter with great skills.

For me, Napoles was a fantastic fighter, but he seemed to lose fights he should've won. I'm a fan of his, from what I've seen of him he was clearly VERY VERY TALENTED indeed. And fighting Monzon is a very corageous thing for a career Welterweight to do.

Well, PACFAN you've seen my P4P list and you know how I rate certain fighters through this forum, so you probably know my opinion without me going through. Sorry I haven't done all of em or stuck to the attribution you asked, but I simply haven't got the time.
