Irishbc you're hankering for a time and world of boxing that has never existed. The sport has been corrupt and full of lowlifes, raping actual fighters and their familes since the late 1800's, through the depression, WW2 and present day. Away from the bright lights or in them I love this sport to my bones but accept it is corrput, political and sleazey. Scum like King will never leave this sport while there's big money involved. Just gotta box on in your own world and and take out of the sport and its history what you can, in the ring and as a fighter. Getting rid of Bunce isn't the answer. He has his favourites but compared to other corporate arse lickers he's a breath of fresh air. He's also an interesting guy who appreciates the history of pugilism and has a lot of knolwedge of the pro and amateurs as well as the greats such as Greb and Burley. He's got a lot better since 1990's. I think he's one of the better Boxing outlets on TV and my guys up here would dearly love to have the Steve and Andy show back ASAP.
That is not the point, there an age called "The Golden Era" perhaps you've heard of it? An era where the best did indeed fight the best and there was one true champ for each division, a time when guys like King and Warren weren't the only option for a fighter who wanted real title opportunities. If I turned pro(which I was going to) what would my best option be? In fact, le's face it, given my location. what would my only option be for "success"? Frank Warren. It would actually be brilliant because I could beat up old timers, nobodies and smaller/shot fighters, get a title shot I didn't deserve, and be a household name to everyone, and my legacy would be a "hype-job who fought over the hill fighters and never fought the best in his division", sound familiar? But, for both principal and political reasons, I would rather go for the Irish title, and work my way up the hard way, instead of sellout and go the much easier but much riskier Warren route. There should be a boycott to these ****s, a boycott to the enabling alphabet straps. Instead of "Who will win, Pac or Floyd?" threads, there should be "What the **** is wrong with boxing and how do we fix it?" threads. Given boxing politics today, we probably won't even see Floyd and Pac fight. When the promotors hold more power than the ranking systems themselves, and can openly avoid hard fights for their fighters (and this is accepted by you people) then something is wrong. I thought boxing was a sport, you know? Where you're SUPPOSED to fight dangerous opponents, not be covered in cotton wool and given fighters you have every advantage over to fight. "Of course fighter A won't fight fighter B, Frank Warren wouldn't allow it" I thought this guy was a promoter? Not chairman of all Euorpean boxing bouts.
Irish, I asked you to list your fave 80's fight - considering you have such an amazing knowledge of boxing....
Jesus are you still here? There's a **** load of them in the 80's, nice one picking out one of the best eras there was, sneaky *******. For me it's Duran- SRL or Pryor-Arguello What about you? oh wait, I dont care oh and Nelson and Snachez is a personal fave of mine.
Irishbc if you have an axe to grind go start a seperate thread about it, instead of expressing your bitterness in a thread devoted to getting a boxing related program back on television.
It seems you morons don't know the point in a "discussion forum" do you? But then again, you like Steve Bunce, so that says it all
No you don't understand, no one wants to hear your bitter little tales of failed ambition and hate for the powers that be inside this thread.

Bunce is the ****ing man! Even the foreign broadcasters & websites reference his material - THAT is how good this show was to boxing. Channel 5 PLEASE secure boxing!!!!!!!!!!
Quite heartening to see Irishbc's posts on here. Good to see that some still care about boxing and are looking at the bigger picture. Sorry to be a party pooper but if you've read Jim Brady's 'Fight Confidential' and the chapters on Don King and Jose Sulaiman surely you would wonder why Bunce holds King in such high esteem and how on earth he believes that Sulaiman is a "fantastic fella." They are enemies of the sport. Given the Pied Piper effect Bunce has on here, Bunce himself would be helping the sport more if he addressed the wrongdoing rather than turned a blind eye. Hasn't his programme been on for more than a year? In all that airtime when did he ever take time to look at the joke that are the alphabet rankings? And if something like that isn't even noteworthy on a weekly boxing show hosted by a boxing journalist of all people is it any wonder that this sport is in the state it is? Sorry, but I don't see how getting Bunce back on tv is helping boxing.
