Not that he needs to, but...a few rounds of sparring with Holyfield and maybe Golota and who else would you suggest to complete Wlad as a total fighter?
Corrie Sanders. The holes Corrie used to knock him out are still there imo. So who better to help patch those holes than the man who exploited them.
holyfield maybe but in all seriousness, go to bowe. big daddy had some of, if not the, best inside work for a big man in the modern era. He was able to outwork the naturally smaller holyfield on the inside, which was supposed to be vander's domain. bowe could teach wlad the one thing his offense is missing: an uppercut
WHY?.. thats not his game. Stick with your strengths and you will be successful, D Its better to do what you are good at 110% then things you arent good at 50% that 50% will get you every time:good
His gameplan for inside fighting is perfect - don't do it. He has a weak chin, and he's more prone to be nailed on the inside. His entire gameplan is predicated on keeping fighters on the outside, and he does an excellent job of that.
Thats not the point though chef if he could add that to his arsenal he would be some force to be reckoned with and it would move him up the respect charts with alot of fans.
I disagree. I think he should stick with what he is doing BUT be MORE aggressive. I am a Wvlad fan and I always thought he was somewhat exciting - all of his fights end up in KO's but after watching the last fight and being critical of my assessment I can see how people call him out on not being exciting. He definitely should have been more aggressive and tried to KO Chaggy much earlier. Aggressiveness is his key to stardom, not fighting on the inside.
Work on what your bad at, improve on what your good at. Wlad will never have a good inside fighting game, he's comfortable fighting his oppenents at a distance, because from there he can control the tempo of the fight and can see whats coming better. It would be harder for Wlad to see the punches coming at him on the inside as well, so why should he take the chance of getting hit on his glass chin if he doesn't have to?
I do agree with you:good. I can tell you we have watched tapes of Herns and Lewis in camp for the uppercut and he does work on his inside fighting in training. Thats the 1 thing about Wlad... he is always trying to improve. He is getting very close to using these things. I just dont think he is 100% comfortable with them yet:good
If Wlad learns to sneak in those uppercuts like Lewis was able to do, he'd be pretty damned unstoppable.
TRUST me guys. He has heard your words and he is working on it. He knows what you guys say. I have to agree at times as well but he is working on it and thats a good thing
He loves that uppercut from Lewis. They have talked on the phone and in person many times about it. Manny and Wlad work on it alot. Like I said, he doesnt seem to be 100% confident yet. I think he still has to think about that punch to throw it rather then on instinct. Give it times guys. Its coming:good
You said it much better then I did. He works on the inside fight but is not totally comfortable with it yet to use it IMO from what I see in camp
Chef buddy i remeber Wlad threw a uppercut against Chagaev and as you said it was as though he had to think about the punch and it didnt seem to come natural. But the man is improving with every fight, and i think he will go down as one of the greatest of all time, no doubt. Apart from that as ive said he is a great ambassador for the sport.
