I hope rampage wins...I'm tired of seeing belt holders losing and not even defending their belt even once... Hendo is a very legit opponent , there's no shame to lose against a guy like that but it would be preferable to see jackson winning that one...imo
They will probably say this, but honestly he might as well put the Pride belts up on a shelf because they won't be worth anything unless they go against all indications and bring back Pride.
Still though, that belt holds major weight in the MMA world, it will also play a part at the final show super bowl weekend, even if Pride is fully dissolved.
Let history not forget he won those belts during an era when PrideFC was at the top and had most of the best fighters.
Dana White has announced this will be a non-title fight. So whoever loses will still keep there respective belt.
Sherdog. I assumne they're doing this to stop one person holding 3 belts, with more people holding more belts they'll be able to market fights better and hype them up with the title 'Champion' beside a fighter. Hopefully the word 'champion' in MMA doesn't become as devalued as it has in boxing.
Why even take the fight then if you are Hendo. Hendo can what, say "I beat the champ but didn't get the belt for it!" Everybody would(and should) look at Hendo as the real champ and start looking at the UFC as a sham. Of course this is on the assumption that Dan wins, of course you can say the same thing if Rampage wins, although I still don't understand how you can win the PrideFC belt fighting in a cage (instead of ring) under American rules (as opposed to Japanese). But I guess it doesn't matter anymore noboies belts will change hands anyway. Oh yea Fuk Dana White!
Well, they are still following this farce that both organizations are separete brands, even though PRIDE has been stripped of all its fighters. A new Japanese organisation will just be built up again to challege the UFC. The 'new' PRIDEfc will have a more difficult task as UFC has now gone mainstream, one of the reasons PRIDE flourished was because UFC had been banned on cable at the time but now with UFC's resurgence and more money fighters might not be so willing to go to Japan and fight. If a new Japanese org can tap into the Chinese market (a market of 1.3 billion people) then that will easily become the biggest and richest organisation. Although judging on the hatred between all things Japanese and Chinese that may well be unlikely. Perhaps a Chinese organisation will apear or pan-continental european one.
