You never know. Rashad may be able to take Jones to the floor...but putting him there and keeping him there while being effective are two different things. I think Jones makes Rashad bleed and look to be about done in round 1 then stops him with strikes in round 2.
If Rashad takes Jones down, he will do nothing. He may even get choked. Then Jones will spring back up and put a highlite reel beatdown. It would make the Machida massacre of Rashad look tame in comparison. Rashads a nice guy though.
Im sure he can take him down..Im sure he took jones down many times in training.. But its a 5 round fight so really what is one take down going to matter.
Rashad's speed is what makes this different than the Bader fight. Evans has been able to impose his speed on multiple opponents. Liddell was the better striker, but Rashad knocked him out. Griffin had a good game plan going for him, was making Rashad think about the leg kicks, but was yet another victim. I think Rashad's speed was a key factor in his fight with Davis. On paper, Davis was the better wrestler. Evans made sure the fight wasn't just wrestler vs wrestler, mixed in his strikes well, and was able to out grapple Davis when it mattered. Evans was able to achieve this because of his speed. A slower man would not have been able to exploit the openings he found on Davis. Jones will have to react much quicker to Evans' attempts than he did Bader's. I'm not going to say he can't. Jones has two brothers in the NFL. Jones is an extraordinary talent. Jones is sure to be seen as the better stand-up fighter. Evans's speed is the only reason he is competent standing. Forrest was out striking Evans standing. Jones found a way to impose himself on two much better stand-up guys, when he faced Shogun and Machida. Jones has the better stand-up, but Evan's speed will keep him in check if he ****s up. Please forgive what may be just another drunken diatribe, but I think I have found the keys to either fighters victory. Evans can't win a disciplined stand-up attack against a better technician, in terms of striking. Evans' has to make Jonse miss and hammer him hard. Jones' chin needs to be tested. Jones' fighting off his back, and to an extent off the cage, are areas to try for as well. If Jones up with a chin, and huge fighting spirit with a willingness ot help others, there is no telling where he could go. Captanin America Bat Man What?
Yes, look up their credentials. Bader is a much better pure wrestler. Rashad is a better mma wrestler, just because he isn't one dimensional like Bader. If Jones forces him to be one dimensional though, Rashad will have less luck than Bader.
Rashad will put up a good fight, he can take Jones down. In their training camp days I bet Rashad has picked up a thing or two. Just my opinion naturally its hard to say for sure.
