Dana White is an immature child and unprofessional. Who the hell is he to say gsp must continue fighting and give an immediate rematch. If gsp wants to retire then as the face of the ufc dickhead dana should respect it and move on. Its not like he fights...its not like its his health...and like it or not gsp has been one of the foundations ufc's popularity has been built on over the last several years. He owes dana and the fans nothing. Dana is a blend of vince mcmahon and don king. A total douche.
I gave GSP 1/3/5 but also 2 was close. Yes Hendricks had GSP badly hurt, but GSP was in the round and IMO winning 4 of the 5 mins. I also thought Hendricks tapped out early. If he wasn't tapping, what was he doing???
you could also say yamasaki saved st pierre when he was literally wobbling all over the ring to put hendricks mouthpiece back in. he tried to walk hendrick all the way to his corner and hendricks physically ripped it out his hands and put it back in to continue his ass whopping.
You can hardly blame the ref for cleaning Hendricks mouth guard before putting it back on, if someone needs to be blamed, blame the guy who lost it in the first place.
But during an onslaught while the other guy is clearly hurt? You gotta admit the timing was sususpicious at the least. And why am I seeing all canadians on georges side, can't say I'm surprised bu t I don't blame them.
If someone's mouth guard is out the fight gets stopped, the guard gets cleaning and reinserted into the fighters mouth. That has nothing to do with being Canadian, it's simply a basic safety issue that I would defend regardless of who was winning the fight or the circumstances a particular fighter is in. But as far as the fight goes, I'd have to watch it again, but I did think Hendricks won the 2nd and 4th round, while GSP won the 3rd and 5th round. I recall thinking after the 1st round that this was the first round GSP lost in a long time, so based on that, I think Hendricks should have won the fight, and certainly the way GSP was busted up tells me who actually won the fight, regardless of the score. I thought before the fight this could be a touch match for George, he can't out wrestle Hendricks and he doesn't have Hendricks power, that pretty much leaves him trying to out jab him. Problem with GSP is he doesn't have huge power and he doesn't throw all that many combinations, so it's hard for him to actually stop a fighter with his fists, and at the end of the day, more of GSP's victories are due to his superior wrestling ability.
Grrr.....I keep watching the gif over and over again....and one minute i'm "no way, that's not a tap" and the next minute i'm "hell yeah that's totally a tap...". I can see why this is being so hotly debated.
He tapped out but the ref didn't see it and GSP lost the choke at the exact moment Hendrick decided to tap. He was merely lucky the ref wasn't in position to see the tap cause otherwise that fight would have been over.
Wouldnt have mattered if he actually tapped out anyway (he didn`t), gsp let it go before the ref could step in. Makes you think he shouldnt have let it go.
I agree with you. He made a pretty decent point about it though. Imaging if Dana said he wanted to take a year off, wouldn`t that kind of screw the other people in the company over.. I mean GSP taking time off does hurt the UFC quite a bit indeed. Dana could retire but probably feels responsibilty for giving everything he can to the organization until he`s dead. That being said, he isn`t actually fighting so he should shut the **** up, I`m getting sick of his douchiness. Makes me really happy Fedor did not sign with the UFC because `they do not treat fighters like people`. I would be perfectly happy if GSP retired gor good and said the same thing. Maybe then Dana would start to treat fighters with more respect.
