Hennesey wins Macklin vs Barker purse bids

Obviously Frank didn't think it was worth the figure that Hennesey paid for it. If Warren wanted it, he'd have it.

 

When Mick had the deal on ITV, some great fights were broadcast. Its a real shame he doesnt have a tv deal as some of his cards in the past have showcased really good matchmaking for the fans. I mean Froch/Pascal on ITV was great for british boxing and there needs to be more fights like that. All the best Mick i say

 

Or Frank underestimated what Hennesey could afford.

 

Mick has a loose deal with Showtime to feature young British fighters in the network. Barker might be one of them.

Im going to assume that Johnson and Froch wont be on the same night as Abraham Ward and hope that they have this as the main support.

Don't give a **** or a toss about purse bids etc. As far as I'm concerned fights are an ongoing saga with bull**** coated all over until the fight is made.

I'll believe it when I see it.

(I refuse to believe Warren is not actively working at an eliminator or world title shot for Macklin in place of this. And if one falls in his lap of course he will take it.)

 

That's a good shout. It might be put on Friday night Shobox and Premier Sports like the Fury v Power card.

 

He's been known to pay over the top and lose money in order to protect his investments in fighters in the long term. Maybe considering his last couple of performances weren't exactly sparkling he's chosed to get behind guys like Cleverly and Brook and not worry about protecting Macklin as much, seeing as it'll now be a home fight for Barker and last time Warren got it for Birmingham.

 

This seems perfectly feasible to me.

As for Froch - Johnson, I thought Showtime had a contract saying both semi finals were to take place in the US on the same card? Or have I got that wrong?

 

Macklin rejected an eliminator to fight Barker last time so I wouldn't be so sure.

 

I can't see him pulling out again. I think he knows that Matty, with every win, is making the fight less interesting and less necessary as he is moving towards a world title shot whereas Darren is stagnating. He knows its now or never for this fight to happen, and a win will catapult him within world title range.
