My message to you two is stop trying to rip TV companies off, lower what you charge and get boxing on TV.
Hennessy has some great shows on ITV4 but ITV are being twats and are pulling the plug on boxing. Btw, threads like these would be better served in the Brit forum :good
It is not a case of being “twats” or not being interested in boxing. All commercial media outlets have been suffering badly from a lack of advertising revenue. ITV earn about 60% of the advertising revenue they used to earn a few years ago even with the three extra digital channels they now have plus the rising costs of business and inflation. Magazines are going bust left right and centre and Channel 4 along with ITV is in such dire straights that unless they can get hold of a piece of the TV licence fee that we all have to stump up to the BBC then they could be switching off air sooner then you think. With the rise of the internet and broadband, plus services such as SKY + where you can pick and choose your viewing habits and never see an advert, ad revenue is switching markets from print, radio and TV to the net. The TV channels no longer have the financial clout to compete for anything that is not a solid ratings hit. The way we watch and read our media now has changed and the old guard are already starting to fade away. It has been said many times before but what is needed is a fresh approach. The way to go for promoters now is to screen their promotions online and to take charge of the subscription fees and advertising revenue for themselves. Edited to add: The BBC have more than enough finances to cover boxing but alas it is a sport the bean counters at the Beeb do not like. And I do not think their position will change on that anytime soon.
Hennerseys top fighters are to inactive but he does eventually deliver on the world title fights so have to credit him there.
