Akinwande was pretty good, he was written off by the TV networks after the Lewis fiasco, but he was fast, very good jab, nice movement, powerful. His chin/strength weren't the best, but he would be a very difficult fight for many HWs. I think both Tyson/Holyfield could KO him after some difficulty and losing rounds against him, he may just pull the upset though, especially against Holyfield who doesn't have the same equaliser and imo would have trouble with Herny's movement and boxing at range with that huge wing span The most underrated win on Lennox's ledger Yes I do, better outboxer, faster, better jab, better movement. Golota is a better in-fighter Golota achieved more because Akinwande didn't get more big fights after Lewis. Akinwande beats Ruiz/Byrd though and has a shot against Bowe
Tyson-Akinwande might be like Tyson-Bonecrusher... Akinwande excessively & illegally holds Mike a million times, but gets dominated when not clinging on for his dear life.
Bonecrusher also landed a good uppercut on Tyson in the 12th round , and so did Tucker although I'm not sure if it was the 12th round in his case , and then so did Lewis and Douglas . Is it just a serial coincidence ?
Agreed, :good Took lennox 8 rounds to sit mike on his ass & mike was Clearly out of shape, unmotivated & admitted directly after the fight he was just showing up to pay the bills, Yet in 2002 lennox is still weary of Tysons power
No, it was a ridiculously brutal 5-punch combination of bombs, while he was totally exhausted, & after he'd took a hellacious sustained beating. Besides, Buster Douglas of '87 Tucker to '90 Tyson was clearly a better boxer than Akinwande ever was.
Agreed; Akinwande fought scared in his top level fights, which was a shame as he had ability (he did deck Lewis, although it was wrongly not counted). I guess Henry did not trust his chin, and that is not what is needed even against 96 to 98 Tyson or indeed Holyfield.
