No but Boxrec doesnt dictate when the NBA title was up for grabs the NBA did and they didnt sanction two of the bouts used to say he defended 5 times in 21 days. Just like nobody but a handful of people considered his second fight with Garcia a middleweight title fight but youll hear endlessly how he almost held four of the eight titles. Armstrong is one of my favorite fighters but theres been a massive amount of bull**** spewed about his career to enhance a legacy that is already impressive without the revisionism.

 

So wait, are you saying that he didn't fight 5x in 21 days, or that he didn't make 5 title defenses in 21 days, or both?
I have often wondered about that Armstrong-Garcia fight, thnx for clearing that up. I have to agree about the other thing. Armstrong already had one of the greatest careers ever, making up that he almost won a fourth title kind of puts a stain on his name, although it's not his fault.

 

He fought five times but two of those fights werent title defenses as is popularly claimed.
