I'm gonna catch a lashing for this from some posters but from the footage I have seen of Armstrong, it seems that his H2H potential doesn't stack up to his resume which is of course very impressive. Someone made a thread a few weeks ago about him vs. Floyd, where I would have to favor Floyd by a small margin. My question is what your thoughts are about him h2h at the weights he fought, and whether you think I am being unfair about this. I'm willing to be educated on him, but I have seen some footage and perhaps I just don't mesh with this style as a fan, don't know... :|
I agree with you ACB, now let me ask you, is my input welcome in this thread in good knowledge of my historical stance on fighters of Armstrong's era? I think it's very evident in viewing the film that H2H he's not even in the mix.
I really like him H2H to be honest but at lightweight rather than Welter as he was very small for that weight. He definitely benefitted from the 15 round era imo and might be at a disadvantage because of this if he was around today.
Fancy him over all lightweights except for Duran, Whitaker or ike williams whom i believe to be the 3 best H2H at the weight. Think he would beat the likes of ortiz, canzoneri, etc.
