    1. Considering Garcia's dreadful performance in the previous fight, I was very surprised and impressed as well by the speed and fury with which Garcia came out. The fight quickly was taken inside where Armstrong was superior, but unlike the first one, Garcia had a response for Armstrong's attacks, and it was solid, just not enough. Garcia was holding his own. Armstrong.
    2. Garcia was very aggressive with a big flurry. In the latter half of this frame Armstrong came on with a good flurry of his own, pinning Garcia on the ropes in the corner. Armstrong.
    3. Garcia was on the ropes taking punishment from the very beginning. Garcia scored with some chopping uppercuts near round's end. Armstrong.
    4. Armstrong's most dominant round so far. Armstrong.
    5. Garcia landed some very solid hooks and uppercuts. Armstrong.
    6. Not one of the most eventful rounds, but as the bell rang at the end, Garcia threw a hugely wild right uppercut which missed. I think he was getting frustrated. Armstrong.
    7. Armstrong.
    8. Garcia met Armstrong head-on with a good, but short-lived flurry. Armstrong.
    9. Armstrong.
    10. This was a TERRIFIC final round. Both guys going all-out. Armstrong.

I gave every round to Armstrong, despite how condensed the whole fight was. Based on the film I would say it was a bad robbery and a gift for Garcia to be given a draw. He did give a good effort though, a thousand times better to the previous fight. I tended to focus more on him than Armstrong, who seemed less dominant here than in any of his other fights cuz of how often Garcia returned on his shots.

Btw, Garcia's use of the bolo was plainly obvious in this fight.

Verdict: The most fun Armstrong fight to watch imo, although not his best performance on film. It experienced more ebbs and flows than the one-sided fights Armstrong had with Arizmendi, and the punching was so much more accurate than that done in Armstrong-Ambers II.

We're low blows a factor in the outcome?

They may have been, but I didn't spot any. But I also wasn't looking for them like I was in the Ambers fight.

Well William, I think I will not get an approval from you for my comments here. Like with Armstrong-Ambers, and especially Louis-Godoy 1, I disagree with your scoring.

I have the fight close. We don't see all of the rounds, and I don't know what is missing, but of what I see a draw seems fair. Armstrong generally couldn't push Garcia around like some of his earlier opponents. Garcia scored often with his right uppercut, left hook combinations. Off this fight and the Ambers fight, opponents were figuring out Armstrong to an extent. His bobbing didn't protect him from uppercuts and both men went with them.

Just on Armstrong, he seems to be going back rather severely. My reaction was that his punch volume was down. There was a lot of pushing with the shoulders and short arm punches to the body, which didn't look that effective. Armstrong missed often with his wider swings. His head movement was down with less rapid bobbing.

Garcia was heavier than previous opponents on film, and that told.

In fairness, unlike the Louis-Godoy fight in which my scoring was in line with the majority opinion, as far as I can tell, in this one the consensus was that Armstrong won. I don't know, though, if very many thought he won every round.

Just on Armstrong, while his style was effective, it doesn't appeal to me. Too much pushing guys around. In some ways he is similar to Godoy, but is a much busier puncher.

I did find it close actually. I still wouldn't call it a draw, but most of the rounds were close.

Armstrong did seem not as good as in other fights, but I think it may just have been Garcia's size, like you alluded to.

After watching footage of the second bout between Henry Armstrong and Ceferino Garcia, I felt that the bout was very close, hardly a robbery in regards to the draw decision. George Blake, the referee and sole ring official in the bout, was highly respected as a trainer, manager and referee in boxing circles.
