McGregor has only had one fight where he lost decisively to old man Floyd. how would he beat some of the ATGs from the 30s or 40s?

I didn’t say he would. But it’s silly to deny McGegor’s experience in hand to hand combat including boxing as a teen.

I’m saying McGegor would beat most of the nobodies on Armstrong’s resume, which is a long list.

Are you kidding? Back in the late 1930's and the 1940's....Mayweather is lucky if he's 6 round fighter on an undercard....talk about revisionist history...

Hank ain't got the speed to bother Floyd.

Simple. Hank ain't got the speed to bother Floyd. He'll try to smother him and pressure him, but he can't cut the ring fast enough.
Hank will try to land and Floyd will counter.
A pressure fighter can definitely negate Floyd's boxing skills, but only if he's just as fast as Floyd. Otherwise, Floyd will pick him apart.

Not even the year, so much as individual ref. If it's Tony Weeks who beaks it at the slightest sign of a clinch than Mayweather would take a decision.
Armstrong by KO if it's Steve Smoger.

You're talking about the best swarmer in history with endless workrate. Swarmers build their offense to negate speed and reach advantage. There is no better swarmer than Henry in whole history of boxing.
How will he pick him apart? He doesn't have the power to take Armstrong off himself. He doesn't have huge size advantage. How would he prevent Henry from working inside? Because of his speed? Have you ever seen Armstrong in work? Speed isn't something that would slow down him.

Armstrong was a fighter that one needs the firepower AND skill level to get his respect, keep him from just bulldozing through you.
While May Jr. Had the skills, he simply didn't have the firepower to hurt Armstrong.
This would allow Armstrong to do what he did, go forward, smother his opponents attack, wear them down.
May Jr, could make Armstrong look foolish at times early on, but Armstrong's relentlessness wouldn't change, he would continue forcing the fight , hitting May Jr on the arms, shoulders, hips, thighs, were ever he could get his shots in.
A 5 - 10 rd fight May Jr, could win, anything over that , Armstrong wins, if it's 12rds he wins by split dec. If it's 15rds, he wins by UD.....
But it's very doubtful May Jr, above lightweight would take the chance to be great and fight a fighter as great as Armstrong in his prime.
May Jr wouldn't get into a boxing ring with ANY fighter their was a better than average chance he could lose.
The illusion of his undefeated record is far greater in his mind than fighting the best competition available.
