The recent Cuevas posts made me think of this... 15 rounds for the welterweight championship. Who and why? Could Cuevas do the unthinkable, and stop a prime legend ? Or would Homicide Hank grind the larger man down?
Armstrong wins this for me , I like Cuevas and think highly of him , but no ! He has the puncher's chance though . The Hearns fight shouldnt have a great bearing on this , but considering Duran destroyd Cuevas when he got going aswell , I think against the top flight of strong punchers Cuevas would lose . Armstrong would do his usual thing and stop him in my opinion
If Armstrong jumps directly from featherweight to Welterweight (like he did against Barney Ross), then I take Cuevas. But if Hank acclimates himself at Welterweight, then I take Armstrong.
Armstrong could win this, but he would have to keep up the pressure on Cuevas, if Pipino had the chance to unload, he would score the kayo.
Interesting match up, Armstrong weighed between 132-142 for his WW fights. Cuevas has considerable size, strength, chin and power advantages. It's also a bad match up for a pressure fighter to take it to a bigger power puncher. But Armstrong is much more skilled and his intensity and drive may take the zip out of Cuevas's punches I'd lean towards Cuevas none the less Duran is considerably bigger than Armstrong though bro
Great as Armstrong was, his tenacity will get him KO'd here. Pipino is too big for him and has too much firepower.
Two interesting posts and both are correct IMO...... Put this as a trilogy and I pick Henry to win two fights.....
