You're incredibly biased when it comes to Armstrong.

How the **** is this poll so close? Armstrong quite clearly has the stronger legacy. It's not even close. Who would win H2H is up for debate, but I would give it to Henry.

I think Armstrong is comfortably a top 5 all-time fighter. Personally, I call him second only to Robinson. Title fight after title fight, weight class after weight class, knockout after knockout, win after win, this guy is consistently stronger in resume to Pacquiao. And since Pacquiao has one of the greatest careers of the sport, that's no BS. I think the world of Pac, he is obviously one of the best to ever lace 'em up. But it's Armstrong all the way for me here.

Henry Armstrong would beat Pacquiao at any weight. I don't even think the 'legacy' question should be up for debate. Armstrong definitely has the better legacy. Don't know what some ESB posters are smoking.

I'm 30. Of course I've never seen Armstrong fight on television or in person, but I've read plenty of newspaper coverage of his fights and can see for myself through research the quality of the opposition he beat and the opinions of him from such experts as Nat Fleischer and Bert Sugar.

I never saw Hannibal Barca lead his troops either, but that doesn't mean he wasn't one of the greatest generals that ever lived. Research has shown me that he was.

See what I'm saying, though? Pacquiao is an amazing fighter, and he's still got fights left in him. But at the moment his legacy is not comparable to that of Henry Armstrong.

    agree.

these polls comparing fighters separated by a century are completely stupid. armstrong supposedly faced stiffer opposition, but time makes it seem that way. when lennox was fighting his opponents were supposedly weak as ****, now fans "long for the good old 90s heavyweights". in 20 years, people - probably pac haters - will be saying "damn, [new p4p sensation] fights only shot or overrated fighters. i wish pac was around, he fought only the best of the best!"

then people go on about the old timers fighting once a fortnight, but are you telling me each and every one of those were against world class/HOF opposition? you're a ****wit if you think so. give me a record that says 128-12-7, and i'll guarantee that 20% was against world class/HOF opposition, 30% against journeymen, and 50% against bums, tomato cans and beggars fighting for 2 pieces of bread and a jug of milk.

then there's this crap that fighters today don't train like they used to. well, if they fought 12-rounders in those days, i'll guarantee you that they'd be training more like today's boxers: with more emphasis on power and strength and a little less on endurance. it's simple logic.

then there's these stupid idiots who'll say that armstrong beats pac h2h all the time. what is this based on? digital multi-angle videos of pac's entire career vs grainy black and white time-degraded highlight reels of armstrong (usually only against his best opposition because filming was resource-intensive in those days so noone wanted to film armstrong's fights against the said tomato cans and beggars)?

I hate comparing old fighters to new fighters. It's a whole new era, man. Better nutrition, better training, better techniques...look at how Armstrong fights. His feet are spread too far apart, his punches are wide, and he is exposing his entire upper body to his opponent. Pacquiao would knock him out in a round or two.

@mr tony - It is true. Different generation, style, technique and quality of opponent. Just like in basketball, George Mikan & Wilt Chamberlain was like demi god in their era. Now it is Hakeem, Shaq & Dwigh Howard.
