A slick counter puncher like Hank will not be able to throw his usual 5 punches per round. Pac will out work the counter puncher like Hank.

Armstrong has the legacy by a mile.

I think a fight between the two is very, very close.

Armstrong. He beat actual champions in their weight classes. Pacquiao beat a few paper champs like David Diaz and Cotto and arguably lost the second fight against Marquez but received a VERY questionable win in that fight. He also beat Hatton who's not exactly a great himself. Armstrong almost won the middleweight title but got somewhat of a dubious draw where many felt he should have won. Overall without going into more specifics it's foolish to compare what Pac did to what Armstrong did really. I expect Pacquiao to win this poll because he's hot right now but obviously it's Homicide Hank.

another obvious point as to why the old timers' resumes will always look better than the moderns': the economics of boxing has changed. fighters back in the day fought each other more often because they needed the friekin money to eat.

let's perform a thought experiment. let's transplant all the fighters from the 30s, 40s and 50s into the 2000s.

do you really think sugar ray robinson and jake lamotta would've fought each other 6 friekin times? that would've been a trilogy. moore would've fought charles 2x at best (i'd say he'd fight him once, lose, then cherry pick on easier prey - and one fight today against a bum means more money than he actually made his entire career), and people would be calling for armstrong's retirement by the casanova fight.

face it, if armstrong fought today, his record would be something like 45-4-2. he would've won a 2 lineal titles against a couple of future hall of famers (who haters would say were shot, or over-rated) and he would've picked up a couple of alphabet belts against interim champions. he also would've fought his share of catchweight fights.

Armstrong was a volume puncher not a knockout puncher he was called the perpetual motion machine.

    Thats not entirely true.

He had many abrupt and early stoppages against solid opposition...Quite often when he was outweighed 5-10 pounds.

He was the only guy to knock out guys like Bass and Sarron for the count.

He could certainly turn on the sting when he wanted to.

He didn't KO ceferino "BOLO punch" Garcia, it ended in un-eventful 10rnd huggathon. He beat Bolo in their first fight by UD 15 rnds. I am assuming another boring :blood the guy fights like hugton.See for yourself.

    Tough guy.

I'll take my common sense and reasoning elsewhere, it's not welcome on this thread.
