I think If both guys fought in their primes Pacquiao would win! Armstrong didn't have great head movement and Pacquiao has the much better footwork! I could see Pacquiao teeing off with combinations and getting out of range, Armstrong would always come forward in straight lines with his head down, I think Pacquiao's speed and movement would be too much for him!

Pacquiao is the closest thing to Armstrong in modern time but he still has a long way to go and i doubt he will ever reach it to get to Armstrong's level, Thats not a slight on Pacquiao who is a great fighter but Armstrong is a top three fighter of all time just being compared to Homicide Hank is a compliment to Pac.

In terms of historical relativism: Armstrong. But the standards of technique and athleticism have elevated since Armstrong was competing. Armstrong's principal tactic was to dig his head into his opponents chest when he was punching. Something that wouldn't work in today's sport.

This would actually be a helluva fight and a lot closer than some people think it would be.

To those saying a KO for either guy in a few rounds, well that's just crazy talk unless they got hit by a lucky punch. This would be a high volume punching affair and one of the more action packed matchups you can make at 135 or 147 between 2 great fighters.

I would favor Armstrong in a late stoppage or decision.

The boxing world is too nostalgic. I'm not convinced that the standard principles of athletic progress do not apply.
