Armstrong gave up weight advantages in every welterweight title fight he had, often by around 10 pounds and he had an incredible ko ratio at that weight, even more incredible when you think he was a lightweight. Armstrong, for me, has to be one of the three greatest fighters that ever lived (along with SRR and Willie Pep). But I agree with you about the height difference being a factor. As great as he was I just can't see him getting past Hearns combination of reach, boxing skill and pure one-punch ko power. But maybe I'm underestimating him.

I don't know if Armstrong is greater head to head. Remember Hearns fought Cuevas for his first title, Benitez for his second. Beat Duran by knockout.. And Virgil Hill for his title at light heavyweight.. Hearns biggest enemy was himself and his need to entertain and knock people out.

Armstrong met some punchers I don't know why anyone would say he didn't, Garcia?Jenkinsx2.
I see Hearns by dec or late tko, or Hank by dec.

first off, armstrong was not a welterweight. he was a lightweight fighting at welterweight. armstrong was great......but so was Tommy.
but lets be realistic. Tommy was 6´1 with a huge wingspan and a great jab. plus he was probably the greatest one Punch knockout guy at welterweight EVER. in other words: hearns was 6´1.....but the ring fought like he was 6´5.

at 5´5 armstrong would have to throw caution to the wind and go for it. and that would be deadly against Tommy. sure armstrong was great. and he had a great chin. but Walking into Tommys right Hand would be a totally different animal.

i would forsee a short violent fight. armstrong would go right for Tommy. but Tommy, instead of boxing and moving would stand his ground and nail him coming in. armstrong would get rocked and dropped ....but even worse, he would be forced to back up. that would be his death sentence. Tommy would stalk him for about three rounds before a mercifull Referee stops the fight to save a battered and bleeding armstrong.

Mosley couldn't do anything against Vernon Forrest, and Armstrong couldn't have done anything against Hearns. Distance trumps speed when there's enough of it. And Hearns was faster than Forrest.

Armstrong is a legit ATG he was incredible but I am afraid he would get the same treatment as Duran did....Hearns was a huge, strong hard-hitting fighter the fight would be a mismatch physically
