Two greatest contrasting featherweights/Who wins?...I saw prime pep and faded armstrong...At peaks I pick armstrong, he would catch up to willie, and wear him down.Pep did nothit hard enough to keep armstrong away for 15 rounds...What say you?.

at feather yeah, you're right i say armstrong wears him down and outpoints him over
    15. pep would win rounds and wouldn't take any serious damage but in the end he'd have nothing to offer in return and would remain in full retreat the whole fight.

that is UNLESS pep can execute the perfect gameplan as he did in saddler 2 (which i have to say is one of the greatest executions in history) it which case he could pull out a victory

I'd take Armstrong's strength, relentless pressure, infighting skill, and workrate to carry the day against Pep.

It's the like the ultimate question of the matador against the bull. Does Armstrong hit harder than Saddler does at the weight? I'm not sure, and I don't think so. He's certainly not as rough nor as cheap. Maybe he needs this. A past prime Pep beat Saddler. A Prime Pep really was never seen. So how the hell could we even figure this out?

I say flip a coin. But my instincts think Armstrong, my heart wants Pep.

Armstrong has the style advantage but Pep is more proven at the weight and we never saw him at his best. I think Pep has a very good chance but you can't overlook Armstrong's style advantage.

Really, in the first fight he gets knocked out and finding Saddler a difficult opponent. After that he boxes his usual way and wins the rematch and on the footage of the following bouts is beating Saddler again. I would say that Pep woud beat Saddler 9/10 times prime for prime anyway.

Despite me being a huge Pep fan, I cant see him taking it. Armstrong is just far too strong, relentless and fast aswell. He can really close down Pep quickly and keep the pressure on. Sure Pep would win afew rounds with celever movement and sharp punches but these rounds would be few and far between as Armstrong would close down Pep and get inside and whale away as Pep tries to retreat and box.

Actually thinking more about it Pep would have a better chance than I gave him as his sharp changes of angles and busy workrate would have abit of sucess in keeping Armstrong off balance and not alllowing him to get inside but I just cant see Pep doing that for the minimum 8 rounds to win.

I love Pep, but I cant be biased. I summed up why I think Armstrong wins.

Still Pep is my number 1 featherweight.

The best pressure fighter vs the best boxer, the ultimate clash of styles.

I see Pep being too slick for him, I feel he could constantly beat Henry to the punch in the centre of the ring, tie him up & spin him around when trapped & take what Armstrong could give when he does get caught flatfooted in the corners - which I dont think would be that often.

    Pep UD15 Armstrong

Honestly, on a good day I can see either one winning. Their styles at complete opposites and I can clearly see both of them winning. But if I had to guess I see it like this... Pep wins the early rounds with his great maneuverability and speed but once Armstrong gets used to it he starts hitting Pep hard in the middle rounds. In the latter rounds Pep is still going strong avoiding many of Armstrongs punches but still taking a few hits, eventually Armstrong lands a good combination knocking Pep down but he gets up and using his good foot work survives the round. The last round Armstrong would finally corner a tired Pep and land some huge shots but Pep is still fighting back with some fast combinations. I'd say the first fight goes to Armstrong but like I said, it could easily go either way

Henry's an exceptional fighter, but cutting off the ring was not particularly a strength of his, especially for the kind of style he employed.

the armstrong v ross fight makes a good case for armstrong.

pep was quicker, more elusive and better at dirty stuff, in his prime with a great camp he could do more than trouble armstrong.

gotta give hank the right side of 50/50 tho.
