resume wise, yeh, h2h, doubt it. I watched a few of Armstrong fights...peopel can go on about subtle this and that but I know what I see, I watch carefully.

The guy pressed his head against his opponent and used his strength, its laughable how he keeps his hands to his stomach/chest...Sure he had head movement but nothing of the extraordinary, he doesnt have the incredible reflexes or Pea to dodge those punches with hands down, he is not explosive either. Very good pressure fighter, h2h very overrated.

he did what he did very effectively though. he was virtually unbeatable in his time. like chavez, he had one way of fighting but he was so good at it no one could figure him out

Boxing at it's infant stage? There was boxing at the original Greek Olympics! James Figg had a boxing school in England in 1799.By the 1920's boxing had reached a skill level that hasn;t been surpassed by modern times. In fact , anyone who achieves that level of skills today usually dominate their division (W Klitchko), not because they're ATG's , it's because most guys just have no skill at all . A guy like Carl Froch, who can be succesful today, would have been murdered by the top guys back when boxing was a major sport, with a ton of gyms and competition.
Being a great athlete helps any physical endevor, but it doesn't make you a great fighter.

If you watch Hank fight Ross and you don't see great skill and defense, then you don't know boxing. I'll agree that you must be inexperienced and don't know the more technical side of the game.

Another assclown who has probably never boxed. Most great defensive fighters fight with low guards. If you move your head, hand placement is not all that important. He's a grind you to a numb pressure fighter, his game is not reflexes because he is not a counterpuncher. Obviously, you don't know what your looking at.

Effectiveness has nothing to do with taste and preference.
