I think he means Richard Dunn. Both southpaw, both British. Easy mistake.

It doesn't matter how washed up or slow Williams was Ali's handspeed throwing power shots that night was probably unsurpassed by any heavyweight.

I believe Henry - after all he went in there with both of them so saw them both at close hand and is therefore in a better position to comment than anybody posting on this thread.

Furthermore, I doubt he had any axe to grind...

Ham, do you ever do any research on the old-timers?
Floyd won the Olympic Gold Medal in 52 as a middleweight. Turned pro a couple of months later. Early on, he was a light-heavy but simply grew out of the weight. 170? Are you daft? He was 182 when he beat Archie Moore for the title in 56 and, for basically the rest of his career, fought in the 185-193 range. Usually he stepped in around the high 180's low 190's.
Do your homework or else stop trolling or go back to the general forum.

I think you're another who needs to do their homework and also read posts properly.
The subject matter is handspeed who's talking legs?
In my post i've commented on Ali's blistering handspeed throwing power shots against Cleveland Williams. This fight was pre exile in November 1966 why are you chastising me about Ali's legs being gone in October 1970? Unless of course you think that's when he fought Williams which wouldn't surprise me.
Anyway while he'd lost footspeed in his comeback in '70 he was still quick on his feet by most heavyweight standards, but as fighters do he slowed down as the years wore on.

But Patterson wasn't in his prime and had back injury issues when they fought.

A prime Patterson, I think had slightly faster hands. But Ali's range was much greater, and for his reach, either Ali or Holmes had the fastest hands

But he was given a giant "what if" that enhances his legacy.

    Let us repeat again Hamburgler.
Patterson could not stay at 175, he couldn't. He had to fight heavy (w/no Crusier division). For the last 15 yrs. of his career, he was a 187-193'er.
Do your homework or go home.
