The first time I heard that story it was on a sky sports Ali documentary, Dundee told it as the glove was already torn, he showed it to the ref and the ref said fight on with it. Cooper drops Ali, Dundee opened the tear with his finger. Cut to Henry Cooper who says Ali got 10 or fifteen minutes while someone fetched a replacement glove.
Of course what the film shows is he got about five seconds at most extra time between rounds and the glove was not replaced.
