As much as I liked Sir Henry,I can only see Bonavena winning this. Cooper would score fairly often in the early rounds with his fabled left hook, but Oscar would n't budge. If Joe Frazier,an even better left hooker could n't knock Ringo out, then neither will 'Enery. Bonavena roughs up,and cuts up,Cooper forcing a stoppage around the midway point.
Ringo is too tough and physical for Cooper. As always with Henry, a cuts loss is a possibility, but I could see Bonavena winning by conventional stoppage in the mid rounds.
I am not so sure. oscar did pounce and lurch in a verry unconventional way, making him more unpredictable than say chuvalo who I would give henry a better chance against. However, osacr was target practice for a lot of good boxers. ellis, folly and old patterson outboxed bonavenna quite easily and they were as fragile and as small as henry. Once henry made it to world class it was only boxers who beat him not out and out sluggers, cooper did handle a lot of big rough types like miteff, richardson (who whipped mildenburger better than bonavenna ever did) London, urtain, walker, bodell and bethea. Id give cooper a real serious chance....even though its a fight his manager would never touch.
Cooper has a very good chance of winning a decision here, while not as strong or durable. he stands a far chance of out boxing Oscar and his left hook if landed clean could easily drop Bonevena late in the fight
nah, bonnavenna didnt do that good a job on mildenburger to guarantee anything much against cooper. richardson wiped the floor with mildenburger better than oscar ever did -and cooper wiped the floor with richardson.
I agree with most here that Ringo would have edged Henry, but I would have loved to have seen it and most of us would have been looking for what would happen should he nail one of his prime hooks on Oscar's jaw.
And henry was less impressive vs Mildenberger than Oscar, to use your logic in using relative performances against the German as a measuring stick.
