Several months ago. His TR debut was on the live stream portion of the Chavez Jr. vs. Vera undercard, taking eight rounds to KO a tomato can who got taken out sooner by Devon Alexander, Danny Swift, and several others - and didn't make it past the 1st with Keith Thurman. He is reasonably athletic, fast, and powerful, but all that sloppiness makes him a terrible finisher (and no more than a mediocre fighter overall). Fernandez was down twice in the fourth and it took Mayfield until the eighth to put him away, unable to capitalize.
Minus that one loss/flub, I really enjoy watching Lundy fight, entertaining and brawls when he doesn't need to (which is his only issue). Met him in Philly too, was a cool cat. Reminds me of a James Toney with the smacktalk.
is this fight a signed done deal?? if so , its a good fight. lundy looked good vs ajose... but maybe ajose wasnt wut i thought he was.. i thought he was a dang good fight but maybe i gave him to much credit because the dude never really beat anyone. ill still take lundy over mayfield....
There is some ongoing behind the scenes wrangling but at this point no ink dried yet. File under "extremely plausible on the NBC 1/24 date but not yet 100% official".
