If Herbie Hide wins the EU title, does anyone think he has the ability to knock out David Haye, Enzo Maccaranelli or that IBF champ (Cunningham) What are his chances of winning one of the main WBO, WBC, WBA or IBF belts? Does he have a go at being a division best fighter? :?
If he wins the EU belt it will make me sit up because when I watch him he looks like a fighter who is nicely past his best. Hides power is a neutraliser but I'd give Enzo and Haye the edge to put him to sleep in a round or two.
Hide when he was a contender in 92 - 94 was a killer.. But he handles a shot too wearily these days......
In 92 to 94 he was a small Heavy who was matched well, but still had one or scary moments (Peterson). Bowe showed even in his prime Hide had trouble taking punches. I dread to think what happens when a 2007 Hide gets hit cleanly:admin
Hide hits harder than both Haye and Enzo...the guy is a monster puncher, but his chin is AWFUL. Hide was unlucky to have one of the worst chins I have ever seen and if he had just been born with an average chin or even a slightly shaky one he would have been something special. Fast as **** and hits like a train. I would pick both Haye and Enzo to beat him, but if he landed on either of them it is over.
herbie hide is going to take the cruiserweight division by storm........watch this space! he is an exellent boxer, fast hands, lightning reflexes and hits very hard. riddick bowe said that herbie hide was the hardest hitter he had ever faced. and now that herbie is fighting at the correct weight division he has a chance against anybody out there. hell he was knocking heavyweights out imagine what hes going to do now? c'mon herbie!!!!! wooooo!!!!!
It would definitely be a shock to me, it would be Herbie's best win since...man...whacking out a fossilised Tucker in '97. If Herbie could look good and knock out Fragomeni, that would be a big boost to his credibility and make a lot of people sit up and take notice (not just achillies!) As for his HW career...I've said this before, as have a lot of people...Hide had absolutely everything to be a fantastic champion, except a strong enough chin or the defence to cover for it. Everything else - hand speed, foot speed, punch selection, power, the guy had it.
I agree, with a better chin, determination and the right attitude he could have ruled the heavyweight divison for years. He could have been Cruiserweight champion for ages in his earlier days.
Herbie Hide hasn't lost since this thread started. Shame he hasn't fought anyone of note either. Apart from the law.
