Johnson was a fatass who got himself disqualified in a fight he was winning. Ruiz did not get penalized for his head butts and pushing Johnson to the canvas. If this is a "good win" then you're really desperate.

I'll give him the Rahman win.

But nothing you say will change the fact Ruiz lost more times than he won his biggest fights, got KO'd in 1 round by Tua, or the fact he was humiliated by aging former middleweights toney and jones.

 

It may pain you admit this, but Holyfield was top 5 going into the Ruiz trilogy and had a bad shoulder injury against Byrd.

Herbie took the easy route for a reason. Paydays or bums, and the Vitali fight was forced if I remember right.

 

All that tells me is how horrendous the era was if an old shopworn holyfield was a top 5 heavyweight. Nice try tho.

Ruiz took the easy way in every fight with his pathetic jab and grab style. At least Hide tried to win--the fact nearly all his fights (wins and losses) ended in a ko is evidence of this.

What an idiot I am, I’ve had another mare here, for some reason I was thinking this was Hide v Andy Ruiz Jnr! Not much difference in hand speed!!
So, I’d probably take Hide here due to his overall speed advantage and power.
He’d still be vulnerable though and the longer it went Ruiz’s chances increase.

 

You seem to be assuming that I think Hide was an amazing fighter or that his resume is better than Ruiz's.

I don't.

My objection is to your claim Ruiz's resume is "way" better than Hide's. It isn't. You have to do A LOT of mental gymnastics to overlook Ruiz's losing record in his biggest fights, his 1st round ko loss and getting outboxed by aging ex middleweights (the first he champion to do so not once, but twice), and also getting whooped by 2 ex cruiserweight champions. It's almost like he was trying to break a record with his tendency to lose to guys moving up in weight.

Resumes cant fight your battles for you. Hide is an athletic guy with power in both hands whose the exact same age and size but even more aggressive. If Hide was just some inexperienced novice and Ruiz was an ATG h2h monster id be more willing to overlook all these glaring factors.
