I'd slightly fancy Hide in this one, he was a really explosive puncher (ask Bowe) and Moorer did not have the best chin. In saying that, neither did Herbie so it's a 70/30 fight in favour of Hide.
Before I watched the Bowe - Hide fight some weeks ago, I would favour Hide as well. But after I watched it again, his chin looked even more questionary than before. Some of the shots really glanced. He got down so quickly....
Moorer gets underrated in these parts. He was a very classy offensive fighter with pop in both hands, more than enough pop to starch Hide. Mike's big problem was Wendy's.
I think Moorer wins by KO. Its not a given and Moorer being dropped or suddenly KOd isnt out of the realm of possibility. I agree with the other posters in this thread, would of been a fun fight in the mid 90s
He really has got an underrated chin for a natural CW he took some nightmarish blows from Cooper whom Oliver McCall credits as the hardest puncher he has shared the ring with.
Moorer couldn't exactly stay off the floor in the Holyfield rematch, either. Evander had him down six times in their two fights. I still think it would come down to who was winning the most rounds. I can't see Moorer outpointing Hide. He barely outpointed Vaughn Bean. He just didn't throw a lot. I wish we could've seen it.
Just revisiting this thread which I commented on a few years ago and sticking to what I said. This would have been fun for the entertainment value. Moorer should be favored but this would be a great action fight
