I'm not quite sure why you are asking the question. We all know Rudiger May is only being brought in to pad out Hide's record, like almost all of Hide's opponents in the past. Herbie Hide has been a pro for over 18 years now, and if was even pretending to be serious about making a dent in the world cruiserweight scene, he would be right in the mix with the top guys. As it is, he is just having a few uncompetitive paydays. Then again, what's new?
Well at least his staying busy. But his stop start momentum since he lost to Bowe has been a farce. Hide is just living on borrowed time and fumes. I highly doubt he`ll make any dent at 200lbs. And the reality just like Bryd is its too little too late.
I actually think this is a pretty decent fight. May is still durable and although he had a lay off he has been winning on his comeback, against low level guys but he still will give Hide a test. At 200lbs I think Hide can still make an impact. He has decent backers in Germany who will push him into contention and he has looked good on return. You look at the guys out in the Cruiserweight division and not too many should hold serious problems for Hide even at this stage of his career. When the young blood start pushing through his time will be done but over the next year a belt should be obtainable. Hide vs May is being shown live on Eurosport on Tuesday I think.
I'm actually going for Rudiger May on this one. I've seen him fight A LOT over the years and he's good at 2 things. 1) Retreating. And.... 2) Jabbing. He has a VERY good jab. If he can keep Hide on the end of it I forsee a world of trouble.
