Herbie Hide vs Tommy Morrison in ´94

Morrison wins in a fight where he's down on points

 

When Ray Mercer was hittin Morrison he took a fair few mega hits to actually hit the deck, Had Mercer fought Hide, well you'd have had to tranqulise Hide to get him in the ring & lie about the opponent, But lets just say that was overcome, Hide would have evaporated if Mercer had started unloading as he did on Morrison...

 

I'd bet the mortgage on Hide.

 

I don't think that the scenario describes is very likely.

Morrison already had a big money showdown with Lennox Lewis scheduled, after the mere formality of beating Bentt.

Hide would be both too good and too bad, to get in the way of the Lewis fight, if that makes sense!

 

I'd favor Morrison over Hide but I wouldn't bet the mortgage on it.

 

Would be very exciting absolute mayhem god knows who would win but it would be fun finding out.

 

At that point ? Hide no doubt

 

If High Noon happens as scheduled in October 1994, I'd favour Hide. It took Morrison a while to get back on track after the Bentt loss, and he was particularly vulnerable at that point.

In an alternative timeline where Morrison goes into a defence against an unbeaten Hide, I think Morrison throws big early and takes Hide out.

Both predictions with the heavy caveat that both guys were erratic chinny punchers, and either could be face first on the canvas at any point.

 

One would be so ambitious and sure of the result to soon live in a mansion.

 

Atlthough there are probably points in time where Tommy could have stopped Herbie with that left hook,at that point, Hide would have decimated Morrison. Just like Bentt did.

 

Let's face it. Tommy didn't do well against live fighters with legs and pop.

 

The really interesting fight on 'high noon' would have been Bruno verses with hindsight, peak Mercer...

 

Lol more clueless boxing fans. Tommy Morrison hurt Bentt badly. Jumped in and walked into a barrage of punches that landed right on the chin. Those same punches if landed on most heavyweight would of put them down. Morrison didn't have any worse chin than guys like Joe Louis. Morrison at least got knocked down by modern sized big heavyweights. Morrison was a face first fight who always tried to go for the KO. Against Foreman he fought smart. He could of fought that way all the time. It wasn't his style.

Anyway 9 out of 10 times a in shape Morrison beats Hide by KO.

Both guys were big hitters with iffy chins. I'm not sure of the actual respective abilities at the point in question. It could be that Tommy at that time didn't have enough left in the tank for Hide.

Prime for prime I think I might give the edge to Morrison.

He seems to me to be the better boxer, less stiff, and he has THAT left hook. On the other hand Herbie was nobody's mug and if he whallops Morrison in the first couple of rounds, absolutely nobody ought to be surprised. Let's say 55-45% to Tommy. Maybe.
