Korobov, Bute, Lee, Dirrell damn that is a nice amateur career and I am told he has four or five names on his pro record, although not famous fighters they are good wins. Fought four times this year and five times last year and pretty much knocking every out the puck out. How good is he? I'm impressed with what he's done so far. 18 - 0 [ 15 ko's ] in the pro's and had a great amateur career. He's tough , good defence and can whack Boxrec has him ranked at 17 in the mw's. Imo he would give quite a few ranked above him a tough night out. A definite prospect. [ check him out on You Tube ]
While the talent and the potential is obviously there, why in the hell does he deserve to be ranked that high? He only has 15 fights, and he hasn't really fought anybody good.
He's VERY good, but the B-level opposition is already running. First it was unbeaten Tarvis Simms who injured into an Allan Green fight, then Ishe Smith, who most likely logged on to our forum and logged off the Golovkin fight in 60 seconds. Too bad, because despite all the skills, Golovkin still needs the C+, B- & B-level opposition before stepping up to a world title opportunity.
Time to climb up the latter to next floor!!!!!! Golovkin's mean promoter has to spend some good bucks on a good opponent with a recognisable name and a decent reputation!!!!!
Ratings can be pretty rubbery. Boxrec has 2 Australians Anthony Mundine and Daniel Geale ranked at 3 & 4 in the MW's. They both have very padded records. I'm sure neither one would want anything to do with Golovkin. But the critics are right. At 27 yrs Golovkin needs to step up his opposition in the near future.
