Archie Moore's chin is probably worse than Roy Jones', there's no way that Moore beats Foster at LHW. Im on the fence with Jones vs Foster, although im leaning towards Foster by devestating KO. I actually hate Tarver and Johnson for tarring my mind.
Archie got stopped 7 times in 220 fights..close to half of those times were at heavyweight past his prime. Sure he got destroyed a couple of times at his own weigth but considering how often he was fighting and the calibre of opposition he was fighting it is no suprise. He was more then likely not in 100% shape for all of those losses. If Roy fought that often, for that long, against the opposition with Archie's style..He would definitely get stopped quite a few times..I think going 9 with Glen Johnson past your prime, is not quite on par with going 9 with Rocky Marciano past your prime..when comparing chins especially. I actually feel Moore-Foster is more a 50-50 fight then Roy-Foster is because I reckon Archie's style and defensive moves may well negate Bob's best work. And Archie has just about as much fighting stopping power as Bob had...Very interesting matchup IMO.
You going to find few people who will say that was his prime, as he did his best work and had his best wins at light heavy a few years later. Then you have to look at who were the guys who did it to him..from memory Eddie Booker and Jimmie Bivins were two blokes who stopped him pretty brutally when he was younger. Two very good fighters. 1 a member of the Black Murderers Row, both in many circles ares considered top100 of alltime It also worth noting that Archie avenged these losses usually, sometimes more then once. For every example of Archie showing a weak chin, there about 5 that show him having a pretty bloody solid one, coupled with a great defense.
