How would a 175lb guy do against a heavywieght? Like would there be a chance or what?

I know when I used to be in boxing the lighter guys could definitly hit just as hard as the bigger guys and were way faster. If I ended up with a sparring injury it actually came from a lighter guy most of the time.

Anything can happen, whoever unlikely it may seem.

Well, if they are both top pros you would assume the HW would win, but with a gap in skill anything can happen.

Off the top of my head the best example where they are both pros and the 175ish guy beat the HWish guy would be Royce Grace and Yoshida's second fight, Royce took it to Yoshida the whole time, but time ran out so it ended in a mandatory draw.

BJ has fought a 225 Machida to almost a standstill and even took Machida down. Both have excellent skills. BJ just has exceptional talent that he can stall even skillful big men. Remember that BJ is around 165 weight wise. Theres only one BJ. Remeber that at the time of this fight Machida has already Koed Franklin and Bonnar..no slouches

Wanderlei fought Crop Cop but apparently and I can't say for sure I just read it somewhere before, apparently Wanderlei wieght in heavier for that fight. Its such a tough call to make, back in the day Royce always beat bigger guys but he had a way bigger tool box to play with than anyone else in the UFC at the time.

No way would he ever be able to do anything nowadays to an heavywieght going...... maybe the Yamma crew.....

Can a 175 pound fighter beat a heavyweight? Sure. There are a few welterweights that could probably armbar a guy like Tank Abott in two minutes. Minowa's beaten up tons of freaks twice his size.

Small guy with skill > big guy with no skill.

But it'd take a miracle for any fighter at that weight, even a great one like GSP, to beat a truly skilled heavyweight.

Yeah I really do agree! I just thought I would ask what everyone thought, I am not a professional fighter, but I have proven able to beat bigger guys in the past with what little boxing skill I have so I always wondered if a 155 lbs guy with tons of skill speed and power could beat a bigger guy, (I am about 220 by the way). Its an interesting Topic cause I know lots of little guys that could destroy me, and there is definitley bigger guys that could destroy me too cause I am not really a big fighter.

If you go to Wal Mart there should be a bargain rack of 1 $ DVD's ( it was in the front on my local store). You can purchase IFC Caged Combat " Kombat in Kiev". Do it, Igor Vovachyn fights on the card.

There is a 176 lbs Russian fighter, he ko's a 6'8 270 all muscle American with one punch , out cold.
