This content is protected Here at around 12:50 we see Pacquiao a year before teaming up with Roach land a right hook. His opponent is Arnel Barotillo a career 26-13-3 record. A decent club fighter. The hook is so powerful that it knocks out Barotillo cold with a delayed reaction. Here we see that yes Pacquiao has always been able to throw right hooks. He just utilized the left hand more because it had more power and his straight left was harder to counter. Believe it or not, Pacquiao did have other fights where he wasn't fighting elite level guys. He hit Barrera with some solid shots with the right, usually in combination though. He largely dispensed with the right hand against Morales and Marquez though. But why? Well because Morales, Marquez and Barrera are better fighters than 99.99999% of anybody who has ever laced up a pair of boxing gloves in their life. They are so many levels beyond even a regular world class fighter it's ridiculous. I'd venture to say that nobody below 135 pounds today is even operating at a level close to what those guys were operating at when they fought Pacquiao. Pac can go in there and line guys up with right hooks. Hell he could do it against pretty much anybody. He didn't have that same ability against guys with perfect timing, shot placement and massive right hands. Or in other words guys who were ATG talents.
