Definitely, but that was the gameplan. Pick Donaire off with lazer, potshot accuracy and don't allow him to work at mid range. Obviously there may have been a chance to end it if he followed up with the right, but straight after that shot, Donaire was virtually back pedalling with Rigo teeing off.

 

Great sense of distance by Rigo, he hurt Noni 30 seconds into the fight with a Tarveresque left.

I think that was part of Rigondeaux's plan, he tried to come out and hurt or at least get Donaire's respect early and he did just that.

Again though, some chin Donaire because he can't have seen that punch coming AT ALL.

 

he wasnt going for the ko so there is no reason to expose himself going for it.

he had the fight won. why would he leave himself open to a counter left by throwing his right?

he wouldnt have gotten paid more fo a ko.

He has a great chin but he felt Rigo's power, he even said post fight, in 12th, he could really feel how hard Rigo could hit.

 

Definitely. Would really like to see him open up his offensive arsenal against top opposition. We seen it in spurts last night, his willingness to fire back straight away, and even exchange fast combinations when need be.

 

He does have a calculating aspect that is impressive.

The reason why Donaire could not go all out on him. Either he gets countered or there is nothing but thin air.

 

This one probably discouraged Donaire the most. Finally stunned Rigo with a big left hand and got hit back with an ever bigger one.
