Fergy, a little birdy told me that you fell asleep last night listening to the Joe Rogan Teddy Atlas podcast for a remarkable 13th time.
The fight seemed to turn after Coetzee bit him in the shoulder. Was biting part of the new breed continental style?
Very true .The 70 s Guy's were fading and we had a whole bunch of new names coming on up .That's one of the things I love about boxing, the passing of eras and new names coming around ,keeping it going .
Sadly only a few remaining heavyweight champs from the 70s still around today, Fergy. Leon at 66 years old is currently the fourth oldest living heavyweight champ behind George Foreman (71), Larry Holmes (70) and Mike Weaver (68). How times flies. —-.
In retrospect, Leon's chin at HW hadn't been tested much. Ali was never a big puncher at by 78 probably had lost some punching power. He did take the power of Bernardo Mercado in their 1980 fight, which was impressive. Mercado wasnt too good, but he could hit.
