what's so confusing? I was about 4 years old when I first put on a pair of gloves and boxing was "dying" then, i've since retired years ago from injury and boxing is still "dying"...

boxing is dead without floyd- floyd mayweather jr.

Tons of great fights without him this year without him.

The movie, "the Fighter" is sure to garner interest among the new boxing fans who are interested in seeing Eckland vs Leonard and Mickey Ward fights.

if it was dying there wouldn't be "new boxing fans"

there are ALWAYS new boxing fans, and therefore, there are always new boxers, people said boxing was dead long before may even turned pro.

not sure about that. the sport will be on life support if floyd/pac isn't made. The movie DEFINITELY made more people intersted in the sport. Whether that movie makes them a fan or more respectful is another topic.

Hot dog is a freakin' troll. I swear my IQ level drops 20 points when I open a thread.

I didn't even bother to read the article..so my IQ only dropped 10 points this time around.

and rocky made more people interested in the sport too, that doesnt mean it didnt have fans already, I mean, just look at how many people are signed onto this site right now.

So let me see if I understand? Because Mayweather did not fight Margarito, Clotty and Cotto. Three guys who have never had any busness being in the ring with Mayweather. They also had no bussnies being in the same ring as Pacquiao. Boxing is I dieing sport?
I am pretty sure I have herd anything now.:patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch

Miguel Cotto was once a feared fighter in the ring. Too bad he was fearful of Floyd Mayweather at that time. Another "man" of boxing was Antonio Margarito fresh from his destruction of Miguel, and even before that.

But when Floyd was open to fighting Antonio Margarito, we suddenly hear from his camp they weren't interested. I don't remember the exact date when this happened. But it did. :good

You're blaming the man that is keeping boxing alive of killing it? How ironic.

Let's see Mayweather fight 3 times a year and then I'll believe that award was undeserving.

Pacquiao trains while Floyd makes rap videos. :patsch

Boxing is dead because there is no real belt. 3 or 4 champs = 3 or 4 super bowls with no real champ. That and the fact idiots pay for PPV.

Partly true. But belts don't matter as long as the people know who the exciting and skilled fighters are and if they are paired to fight.

That's what's good about the UFC. Although it is a one belt organization, the principle behind its success is the pairing of fighters. No one can cherrypick like Pacquiao does if he were under Dana White's perfectly run Organization. Fact. :good

I've heard this "boxing is dying" **** since 5 years ago and yet it's still alive and kicking ass.

Boxing is not just about Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis . . . Pacquiao or Floyd. If Floyd or Pacquiao stops fighting now . . . boxing lives on.

Fighters come and go but boxing lives on. :deal
