JT came close but he couldn't get it done so it is what it is. And it's not like Pavlik was staggering all over the place before he went down. He was never really hurt. He was more stunned. He had his legs back under him 30 seconds later and in the next round, he was already coming forward and was completely OK. The guy's got a chin of granite. Miranda also landed some flush shots and Pavlik shook them off. It's going to take someone really special to actually beat Pavlik. No opponent of him has made past the 10th round. Guys simply cannot last long enough because of the way he comes forward and pressures you. He eventually lands a clean one and then it's over.
I believe the results of the fight will be determined in the first round. Lets face it. It is just human nature to be a bit apprehensive facing someone that knocked you out like Pavlik did. If Pavlik comes out in the first round and starts aggressive and tags Taylor with a few of those familiar right hands very few would not be mentally defeated. On the other hand he must be aggressive but remain cautious. Even though I'm a fan of Pavlik I'm not disillusioned to think Taylor can't knock him out if he's careless. It was pretty close in the second round and likely would have happened if Taylor did not go wild and focused on placing his punches better. I watched the HBO preview over the weekend. I have to admit I was impressed with Taylors comments. He said he has no excuses for the first fight. Also said when people recommend a warm up fight he said hell no and that's what is wrong with boxing today. Said he wants to fight the guy who took his title. May not be the most wise decision but I have to respect it. Also think it's worth noting. Many including myself are impressed with Pavliks rags to riches story and making it growing up in a heart of America working class community. But I tend to think people tend to forget Taylors past is not much different but rarely addressed by the press.
Taylor will forget again what he was told to do... http://www.boxingconfidential.com/articles.php?id=3821
they seem to be very similar in lots of ways...hometown guys....I think they both have good stories...
The Fight Won't Be Determined Until Someone Gets Waived Off. Pavlik Got Up From His Knockdown, Taylor Was Finished After His. Taylor Will Be Gun Shy As Soon As He Gets Hit With One Right.
Like I said, I already saw him KO Taylor live in AC. This time I'll watch the tube when he does it again & then go to MSG to see him again against Duddy this summer.
Pavlik takes far too much punishment at the top level. I really worry he gets killed in the ring one day
**** outa here mate your just pissed because Pavlik accomplished in one year what your meager hero took 10 years to do: Beat 2 great fighters Unify the titles Now go **** yourself in traffic
