Sure Bruno has the names on his record but most were well past their sell by date when they fought Bruno. I didn't want to give Bruno too much credit for losing to Lewis and Tyson the same as I didn't want to give too much credit to Farr for losing to Louis. I think I will look at Akinwande/ Bruno again and aybe swap them before the deadline though.

I thinking about it I'll probably drop Bugner for similar reasons in my final list as well....

Yeah the general theme is to credit people for their wins - but there must be some 'credit' of sorts for giving a great fighter a hard fight.

Bruno was far closer to beating Lennox than Bugner was winning more than a round or two in his losses against elite opposition.

Ideally you would rank guys on their wins only, but obviously controversial decisions etc play a part. Does Whitaker lose out for drawing with Chavez, for instance?

Not trying to re-create the scoring sysyem, merely raising an issue.

I've taken the line that (say) Farr gets a lot more credit for beating Baer and Burman than he does for losing on points to Louis. How I've done it (and I'm not saying its right or wrong) Bruno gets relatively little credit for getting KO'd by Lewis.

It'd def. take contraversial decisions into consideration when giving credit (a lot moreos than getting KO's by a great fighter) but they havn't really affected the boxers in my list. Farr has one 'iffy' one against Braddock but thats about it TBH.

    :good

I don't think those scenarios really apply at HW as you say.

After Lewis and probably Fitz, the rest are much of a muchness.

If thats the lot then here goes:

    1) Lennox Lewis = 240
    2) Bob Fitzsimmons = 205
    3) Henry Cooper = 148
    4) Joe Bugner = 136
    5) Frank Bruno = 109
    6) Tommy Farr = 104
    7) Tom Sharkey = 81
    8) Don Cockell = 31
    9) Henry Akinwande = 31
    10) Danny Williams = 29

    Observations.

    1) Cockell and Akinwande have the same number of points but Cockell got more votes so it seems fair to rank him higher

    2) Jeff Thomas seems unable to count down to 10 properly. His list counts down 7....8....10. I gave his number 10 guy the points for a 9th position.

    3) I'd like to thank TFFP and Kos for making the counting up harder than it needed to be by, instead of just editing their original lists, making new posts when they changed their ****ing minds.

    Sorry

BTW to frustrate you even more, Jeff did indeed have a number 9 (Farr I think?), just he didn't paragraph it so it was hard to spot.........

    Sorry again...

TFFP won't be happy about Woodcock missing out...

There is also quite a big points deficit between, for example, Bruno and Akinwande, even though I believe both are very close in the rankings - shows what being a fan fave and popularity can do for you I guess.

Still, other than that it isn't a bad list :good
