A fight is a fight. its up to the corner to decide if their man should pull out.

the corner is more to blame than the referee..but the ref must also be accountable. he should be incharge in the ring

Here's another example of one of Zakman's ideal referee stoppages.

the ref shuld make sure the fight goes on until theres a clear winner. stopping a fight when the fighter on his bum u can get away with. but if he's still on his feet. stop it when he's on his ass.

Exactly. Let the fight go to its natural conclusions. Refs waive it off WAY too early these days - and fans actually support this crap! :nut

    It's mind-boggling!!!:patsch

I could call a fight better than that guy any day of the week.
If refs were that easy as far as beatings go, many boxers would get paralyzed in the ring. Imagine a 154 pound guy catching 10 flush shots in a row by a guy like PW! :patsch:patsch:patsch

No, when it comes to avoiding premature stoppages, modern referees should not learn from irresponsible blundering referees like Andrew Smyth, but from referees like Marlon Wright (see Bute vs. Andrade, which was not stopped early). I would wager a coin or two that unlike Wright, Smyth has never got in between the ropes with gloves and mouthguard, nor, like Wright, does he know how precariously a professional's career can hang by a bit of luck or a wily refereeing decision.

At least man to man combat is sort of scary.

You're scared of homosexuals; they're much less scary.

Zak , I hear yu, wid the premature stoppage arguement , but that defo was a bad example. That vid showed the REASON refs should stop it sooner. That guy could have suffered serious damage , unnescessarily. The whole point of a ref is to maintain fair play and that the rules are followed. The rule of the ring is DEFEND YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES. If that rule is not followed then stop it.

I seen fights where the boxer is asking the ref to stop it ie Holmes /Ali or even Holmes /Marvis Frazier ...come on now dude ..yu know it makes sense ..

Defend yourself at all times. Soon as a fighter is no longer able to do that the ref should step in and stop the fight. Soon as the fighter drops his gloves and is doing nothing to protect himself it should be stopped. They don't have to be on their ass first.

    You sick *******!

Well anyway, I do agree that there are way too many early stoppages in boxing today, and what's worse is that you get lot of fruitcake, sensitive fans who will agree with even the worst of stoppages, but this is definitely taking it too far. I mean YEESH! That poor ******* was beaten half to death in there.

Although I guess I wouldn't mind seeing Wlad knocked the **** out like that. Just so his fans would stop using that whole lame ass, "Oh but he never took a 10 count," excuse for his chin.
